This morning I did 60' steady state at 70% MHR on the erg. I am operating from a 189 max heart rate. Although, in theory I should be using a 210 MHR which I saw one time during high school swimming. In more recent time, I have seen 189 so I'm going off of that for now.
I have a real tough time with steady state work. I get bored and my mind starts to scream at me to get off. For me, it's almost more mental training than physical, almost.
Avg split was 2:26.7 and yes that is very slow. Total meters 12,265. Avg HR 135 which was more of the point than anything else. This peice was interesting in that I got to play with stroke for 60' but I was told that I didn't use my legs the entire time. Regardless, I am a total noob at rowing and have a long way to go. Especially the 60 min goal of 15,400m.
